Introduction

Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemens

Teaching Junior High School: Enjoying the Challenge has been created due to the necessity to share all the experiences about teaching in which we share tips, pieces of advice, and even activities that we can we use to teach not only for junior high school but also for all the levels.

Teaching is a big challenge, but we have to begin enjoying that challenge. If we enjoy the things we do, we will do them better. As soon as we get in contact with the students, we have to enjoy being a teacher.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

My name is Carlos Eduardo Marrroquin; I was born in March 8th, 1995 in Santa Ana city. I grew up in El Refugio Ahuachapán. I can say that I am an hyperactive and extrovert guy. I like skating and hanging out with friends; furthermore, my favorite hobby is writing.

Academically talking, I studied from kindergarten to 9th grade in Chalchuapa city. When I finished 9th grade, I studied high school at INJEAO in Chalchuapa as well. Later on, I decided to move to Santa Ana city to study at Universidad Nacional de El Salvador Facultad Multidisciplinaria de Occidente, and I am still studying there.

I consider myself as humble, friendly, and responsible person. I like working hard in all the things that I have to do, and giving always the best of my. Working hard is the only way that I know to do in life, so that I do it in that way.

Right now, I study Licenciatura en Idioma Ingles Opcion Enseñanza at college. I decided to study that because I like English a lot; however, I was a little bit worried because being a teacher is a big challenge. My major has been preparing for being a good teacher; I have been doing teaching practices in the different kinds of levels; for instance, I was teaching to kindergarten students, also, I was teaching to Junior high school students, and that experience of being a teacher has been awesome.

Even though, at the very beginning of the major I did not want to be a teacher, nowadays, I am thinking different, being a teacher is not easy; manage a group of students either. But I am learning how to do, and from the bottom of my heart I can say that I began to really love teaching.

Teaching Philosophy

“It's not about being the best teacher in the world but being the best example for your students.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

My name is Jose Gabriel Valencia Quintanilla; I am a student, and I am 20 years old. I study at University of El Salvador; I am studying languages, and I am coursing the third year in this major.
I do love English for that reason I decided to study it. I think everything is this life is possible, and God helps us succeed in life; He helps us get everything we want. I consider myself as a responsible person; I do like to be responsible in everything people require about me. I like to help people do what they want to do; moreover, I like to share the experiences I have been through, and how I have pulled through such experiences.
Also, I consider myself as a talkative person, and I like to compare my own ideas and opinions with others. I like to talk about the reality of our country and bring up some possible solutions for the problems it has. I do like to help other people, and I do like to encourage people to do what they want.
Nevertheless, I do love and enjoy transmitting the knowledge I have got to others. For instance, when I have the opportunity to teach to others, I try to teach them in the best manner; I try to help them learn easily and fast. I like everybody to participate during the class, and I love when students tell me that they have learned some things new.
I have had some experiences teaching, and I would like to share some experiences I have been through. For instance, I have taught to people that like to talk a lot, so I use that advantage they have in a correct manner; when some people like to talk, I try to tell those people to pass to the front and explain what they have been learning. In that way, people are going to be quiet, and they will pay attention to the class. Moreover, I like to encourage everybody to participate in everything because in that way they are going to learn more about the topics.
I do love teaching to people because they will be the reflect about how I taught them.  I will see how much they have learned; I think I have to learn a lot of things and put them into practice to get a good classroom atmosphere. To teach is such as a great experience. FOR SOME YOU MIGHT BE JUST A TEACHER, BUT FOR YOUR STUDENTS YOU ARE A HERO.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

My complete name is Carlos Mario Martinez Cabrera, I am 21 years old, and actually I live and study in Santa Ana. I am single, my family is formed by my parents, my two brothers , unfortunately,  my grandparents passed away around 7 years ago, also, I have a niece; she has already born.
Now days, I study at the university of El Salvador and I still study Licenciatura en Idioma Ingles opcion Enseñanza in the same university of my city. Before I started with my major at the university, I finished my high school at Centro Escolar INSA for 2 years.
My favorite hobbies are playing football, basketball and sometimes I enjoy swimming with some friends, I really enjoy hanging out with other person, I really like to meet new people when I have the opportunity perhaps because I am a pretty social person. Furthermore, my favorite music is English music like: rock in English or reggae in English I really love it. My favorite food is lazaña, spaghetti, I cannot cook but maybe later I will look for cooking classes.
In my opinion, teaching children are not easy like some people say; but when I had to teach childs I enjoyed a lot it was a wonderful experience for me. Right now I am taking Didactics of the English language II, with this subject I have learned different tools in order to teach students and I guess the most difficult to be a teacher is try to control our students in the classroom, sometimes this was hard for me but at the end I believe I did a very good job at the school.
At the end, I think that becoming a teacher in not easy, is a very long process; but finally I believe I will be a good teacher if I study harder since this time, I have to prepare my skills, my knowledge in order to become a great teacher. I know that I have to learn more things but I have the enthusiasm to improve my ability every time I can.

My teaching experience

My experience as a teacher is not much, I know I have much to learn but with the little experience I have had with my teaching practices I learned different things and it helped me a lot and i saw that it is not easy to manage a group of children.

I personally like teaching children, sometimes I had to be a little flexible with them but at the same time kind of angry with them in order to achieve a balance in the classroom.

In my classes, I got many problems with 3 students, they were very outgoing, they liked to annoy others; furthermore, they interrupt the class every moment, they were a headache, but I looked for other ways of control them and also I decided to change them position during the classes.

Finally, I realized that the only thing that I had done with them is to talk to each of them and they understood petty well.

My philosophy

when I made my classes, I was very nervous, but I think at the end I did an excellent job with those children.

My classes were very participative, I developed many activities with my students, so they did not feel bored in the classes and thus encourage them to learn with enthusiasm during class.

My biggest problem was that many students did not get a good knowledge of English that was an extra problem, with these students I had to explain them differently because when I developed the topic they did not understand very well.

For me, being a teacher it is to have the necessary patience with the students when they do not understand very well the topic, there you will see if you are a good teacher.

From my point of view, my practices as a teacher were quite well, I shared with many children, i tried to teach them the little knowledge that I have and they helped me a lot as well with some experience with groups of younger’s like his age.

PERSONAL INFORMATION

Name: Julio Alberto Aguilar Calderón
Birth: August 23th, 1989
Age: 23 years old
Address: Candelaria de la Frontera, Santa Ana

Who I am?

I am a person, who likes to learn many things in all the aspects that I enjoy the most when I am acquiring experiences.

I feel comfortable when I start to do something that I consider it will be a fundamental piece in my labor life in the future as teacher. I am very humble with people and patient at the moment of acting in front of a problem or challenge that I have to overcome. I always look for the correct alternatives in life.

Didactics classes

Didactics class involved many topics which help us to learn more about teach. At the beginning of the subject, the teacher gave us like a guide of how to manage an interactive class in which our students could learn better about the second language.

In Didactics class, we developed different activities in different group work, and when we finished the topic the teacher told us all the mistakes that we did and how can we try to better in the next activity.

Didactics of the English II was a subject which helps us in the teaching area.

I consider I could acquire new knowledge in the teaching practice with teenagers in junior high around the ages among thirteen to fifteen years old.

My teaching experience

I began teaching young teenagers in Centro Escolar Cantón La Arenera in junior high in order to acquire more experience, and also I could interact with teenagers at the ages among thirteen to fifteen years old. It was a challenge because I had to notice every aspect in every one of them, for example if they are not paying attention. I had to get familiar with them and make them participate in almost all the activities that I developed.

Another aspect that I had to manage was to keep the line between teacher and students but understanding all the needs they have at that age.

In the last class that I gave them a feedback of all the topics developed in the class. Everybody were sad when I told them that it was my last class because they told me my classes were more dynamic than their English teacher were. I felt so satisfy with the result of their acquisition knowledge because they absorbed everything I gave them.

Teaching experience

Many expectations are waiting for us when we began teaching young children at the ages from twelve to fifteen years old because it is a stage in which children are acquiring knowledge and that knowledge in one part should be shared by us, teachers. But, what can we expect at the very end of the classes that we gave them?

My experience as teacher involved many objectives by myself because I understood that it was my opportunity to act like someone who has responsibilities in order to teach young teenagers.

When I made the activities whit the students I could notice that nobody had the same way to learn but I was trying to get their attention and they could participate in all the activities.

At the end of the last class, I gave them a test about all the topics I developed in classes. That test was by my own expectative about how much they could learn of my teaching practice, and then I checked the tests and most of the students learnt something in structures and speaking with sentences in the correct way.

Teaching philosophy

Students feel comfortable when they feel that the atmosphere in which they are learning has a new vocabulary that is familiar with them. They don´t care about the mistakes they have at the moment of an activity because the teacher must show respect to the students and students to each other too.

Respect, atmosphere, and the way in how a topic must be developed are essential parts that a teacher must learn at the moment to teach.
